Fall Retreat
Every couple years, the entire English Ministry congregation of Korean Central Presbyterian Church gathers together for a focused time of study and fellowship apart from the routine of our daily lives. The EM retreat is an opportunity for us as a church to connect with the different members of our body - whether they are college students, young adults or married couples - and together, study a particular topic in Scripture.
For the 2009 retreat, we are focusing our study on the third member of the trinity. The Holy Spirit: Another Helper will be a retreat focused on the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit.
At our last EM retreat, we considered our spiritual state of often being "stuck in neutral," which refers to our spiritual trenches and stalemates. Our retreat speaker encouraged us to see ourselves in God's grand story. Now, as we consider how to move forward as a church, we would like to turn our attention away from ourselves onto the only one who can enact the lasting and transformational change in our hearts necessary to getting "unstuck" — God. Specifically, the person of the Holy Spirit is the one to change our hearts and transform our lives.
So for this retreat, we'd like to turn our focus on this often misunderstood third member of the Divine Trinity and learn about the Holy Spirit and His ministry from a great pastor, teacher, theologian, and very dear friend, Pastor Rich Craven.
